Artistic Journey
Win Myint Moe’s journey began with a rigorous education at the State School of Fine Arts (1973–76) under masters like Dr. U Lun Gywe and U Thein Han. Originally painting as 'Win Myint,' he earned the professional name 'Moe' (Rain) in 1979 after a critic praised his evocative rainy-season watercolors. Unlike many studio artists, Win Myint Moe spent nearly two decades (1977–1994) serving in the Ministry of Culture and MRTV. This period was his 'practice ground' for massive scale, leading him to create iconic murals for the National Theatre and the Presidential Palace.
Today, his brush captures the many faces of Myanmar: misty morning markets, golden pagodas bathed in monsoon light, nostalgic village scenes from a bygone era, traditional water festivals, and the quiet dignity of daily rituals. Through fluid, confident strokes in oil, acrylic and watercolor, he continues practicing the impressionist tradition passed down by his masters, rendering the authentic spirit, timeless beauty, and living culture of Myanmar onto canvas.
